Exciting Events this Autumn

Fr. John from St George’s church and a group of our parishioners visited the school for the blessing of our new table and bench set, dedicated in memory of a lovely local couple: Kay and Vince Glover. The beautiful furniture set now sits in pride of place under our playtime canopy where children can share books, games and each other’s company during their break.

In August, Mrs Harris was contacted on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex, Mrs Susan Pyper: the Queen’s personal representative in the county. We were informed that 70 schools have been selected across the country to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. One school from each city in the country has been chosen. As Chichester is the only city in West Sussex, only one school in West Sussex has been chosen: That school is Rumboldswhyke Church of England Primary School! The tree planting ceremony took place on the 6th October in front of the children, local dignatories including the Mayor, the Chichester Observer and South Today. What a thrill it was for the children to see themselves on the television!

We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to receive a Pear tree which forms part of this wonderful international conservation project.  It will be a privilege for our children to nurture this tree and watch it grow.

On the 7th October, Matt Carr author of Rocketmole and Superbat, visited our school to read his books to the whole school. The children thought it was wonderful to see him dressed up as the characters in the book and were completely captivated by Matt Carr’s entertaining rendition of the story. Thank you to the Book Trust who provided each child with a copy of the book that Matt Carr then personally signed. Thank you to to Matt Carr for giving the children such a fantatstic experience.
